Four South Africans qualified for the Match Play stage of the British Amateur. Malan Potgieter, Andries van der Vyver, Stefan Jacobs and Ivan Verster safely came through the 36-hole strokeplay qualifier, while six teammates missed the knockout stages. Potgieter and Jacobs both lost in the quarter-finals.

Ryan Van Velzen won his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title at the Challenge de Espana. His final round 69 left him two shots clear of the opposition. Justin Harding finished T16th at the event. Van Velzen was the fourth South African to win on that tour this season.

Both South Africans in the US Open at Shinnecock Hills were unable to make the weekend cut. Jayden Schaper had rounds of 75, 75 (+10) and Hennie du Plessis had rounds of 76, 76 (+12). The cut was at +5. The American Wyndham Clark (-4) won with Sam Burns second on -3.

There were two South Africans in the top six at the PGA Tour Champions Principal Charity Classic at Wakonda Club. Retief Goosen finished T2nd (-13) behind winner Zach Johnson and Darren Fichardt ended T6th on -11.

Both Casandra Alexander and Ashleigh Buhai had five-over totals of 149 to miss the cut by three strokes at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National GC. They both shot rounds of 74, 75. The Major was won by South Korea’s Haeran Ryu on 13-under.

Jayden Schaper and Richard Sterne finished T11th on four-under 280 at the KLM Open in Amsterdam. Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra won on 273. Michael Hollick was T28th, and JC Ritchie and Robin Williams T45th with Brandon Stone and Dylan Frittelli T48th.

Shots under par of Samuel Simpson who claimed his third Sunshine Tour title by winning the KCM Golf Challenge at the Nchanga Golf Club in Zambia, one shot clear from a group of four players. It’s his second Sunshine Tour win in Zambia.

The position that Casandra Alexander finished at the Women’s US Open at Riveira Country Club. She had rounds of 70, 70, 75, 74 to end T40th, on +5, with Nelly Korda winning on -8. Both Paula Reto (77, 72) and Ashleigh Buhai (77, 75) missed the cut.

Paula Reto finished T60th at the Meijer LPGA Classic at Blythefield CC in Michigan. She had rounds of 72, 72, 73 and 71 to end 15 shots behind the winner, Miyu Yamashita. Ashleigh Buhai missed the cut by one shot, after rounds of 71 and 72.

The score that last season’s R&A Rookie of the Year Caitlyn Macnab produced to win the Waterfall City Tournament of Champions at Royal Johannesburg’s East Course. She eagled the last hole to beat Luis Carrera by one shot.

After 1880 attempts, Christiaan Bezuidenhout hit his first hole-in-one on the PGA Tour when he aced the par three 216-yard 7th hole in the opening round of the Canadian Open.
