South Africans who made the cut in the Investec SA Women’s Open at Royal Cape. Caitlyn Macnab (+2) was the highest-placed finisher, T50th, while Gabrielle Venter (+6, 59th), Kiera Floyd (+10, T53rd) and Lisa Coetzer (+11, 65th) also made the weekend. Coetzer won the Jackie Mercer Trophy for leading amateur.

Shaun Norris was the leading South African in the DP World Tour’s Volvo China Open after rounds of 63, 67, 71, 70 left him in fourth place behind Bernd Wiesberger. Dylan Naidoo was T25th, Jacques Kruyswijk and Zander Lombard T33rd, while Thriston Lawrence, MJ Daffue, Michael Hollick, Richard Sterne and Daniel van Tonder missed the cut.

Number of holes the sudden death playoff for the Jabra Ladies Open at Houghton lasted before the title was won by France’s Agatha Laisne. South Africa’s No1 player Casandra Alexander was one of three players in the shootout but fell away after the first hole.

Jayden Schaper (No63) led the charge of five South Africans in the men’s top 100 at the end of April. Casey Jarvis (72), Aldrich Potgieter (77), Garrick Higgo (84) and Christiaan Bezuidenhout (94) were also in the top 100. Only the USA and England have more representatives in the top 100.

Keith Horne was the highest-placed South African finisher in the Senior PGA Championship at Concession Golf Course, the Senior Major won by Stewart Cink. Horne was on -8. James Kingston (-5) was T17th alongside Retief Goosen, while Ernie Els (-3) finished T27th. Darren Fichardt (+4) placed T56th.

Erik van Rooyen and Christiaan Bezuidenhout paired up to finish T17th in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a two-man team competition. They had rounds of 65, 68, 62, 69 to end seven shots behind winners Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick. Casey Jarvis and his Canadian partner AJ Ewart finished T20th. Christo Lamprecht (with Neal Shipley, USA) and Garrick Higgo (with Matt Kuchar, USA) missed the cut.

Shots under par achieved by Samuel Simpson in winning the opening event on the new Sunshine Tour season – the Mediclinic Invitational at the Heron Banks Golf & River Estate. In claiming his second Tour title, Simpson ended on 265 to win by three shots over Simon du Plooy and Austin Bautista.

Andries van der Vyver equalled a world record 35-under-par in the Nomads SA Boys U19 Stroke Play Championship at East London Golf Club. The 18-year-old matched the four-round total set by Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama and he eclipsed the 34-under-par of Daniel Bennett at the 2023 Nomads SA Boys U19 Stroke Play Championship at Pecanwood

Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s T39th was the highest-placed finish of the three South Africans in the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open. He ended on five-under 283. Christo Lamprecht (T49, -4) and Erik van Rooyen (T59, -2) also made the cut, but Garrick Higgo missed out.

The position that 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel finished at Augusta in the 2026 event. He shot rounds of 75, 73, 77, 77 for a 11-over total of 225. He was the only South African to reach the weekend. Casey Jarvis (77, 75) and Aldrich Potgieter (84, 75) both missed the cut.

The position that Paula Reto finished in The Chevron Championship, the first women’s Major of the year at Memorial Golf Course in Texas. Reto shot rounds of 70, 74, 75, 75 for 294, with Nelly Korda winning her third Major on 270. The other South African in the field, Ashleigh Buhai, missed the cut after rounds of 80, 73.
