This month we look at some of the latest stock Mizuno has on the South African market

Mizuno entered the golf market in the 1930s and has built a legacy of innovation, combining traditional Japanese forging techniques with cutting-edge design. While best known for irons such as the JPX series, Mizuno also produces drivers, wedges, putters and golf balls.

In 2018, Randpark Golf Club became the first golf club to have a Mizuno performance fitting centre located at their driving range facility. Bill Price, director of custom fitting at Mizuno, emphasises the importance of getting custom-fitted for new golf clubs.

‘The most time-consuming thing to identify is the shaft. The golf shaft is the engine and gets the ball up in the air. However, it doesn’t care if you are male or female, 10 or 70, shooting pars or double-bogeys. The problem is the stereotypes out there. For example, women think they need a ladies shaft and older men think they need a senior shaft. At Mizuno, we just want to fit you for the clubs that are right for you because everyone is different.

‘Mizuno has been considered a better players’ club, but anyone can be fitted for Mizuno clubs. The key is to do it,’ says Price.

PRO S-3 IRONS

What Mizuno says: ‘These irons represent the pinnacle of refined craftsmanship and elite performance, embodying the heritage of Mizuno’s forging expertise while catering to the demands of today’s golfers. Designed for precision and control, the Pro S-3 combines a sleek, compact profile with an unparalleled feel, making it the ultimate choice for players who demand finesse and versatility in every shot.’

Random review: ‘This might be the best-feeling iron Mizuno has made. Unfortunately, it isn’t for the 12-handicap who “is a good ball striker”, it is going to take consistent swings to get the best out of this iron. For the players with that consistency, they will be rewarded.’ – golfwrx.com

Suitable for: Low- to single-digit-handicap players.

RRP: R29 999.95

JPX925 FORGED IRONS

What Mizuno says: ‘These irons combine cutting-edge technology with the iconic feel Mizuno is known for, delivering performance and precision that set a new standard in forged irons.’

Random review: ‘This is an exceptional offering. Combining the feel of a beautifully forged one-piece iron with the speed of a hollow-bodied player’s distance iron is remarkable, but Mizuno has managed it.’ – golfmonthly.com

Suitable for: Pro to mid-handicapper

RRP: R27 999.95

PRO T-1 & T-3 WEDGES

What Mizuno says: ‘Engineered for precision and versatility, the T-1 and T-3 offer unmatched feel and control for golfers of all levels. With advanced forging techniques and meticulously crafted designs, these wedges deliver spin consistency, shot versatility and a touch of Mizuno’s signature elegance.’

Random review: ‘I like what Mizuno has done with the Pro T-3. A slightly larger head shape doesn’t detract from an appealing shape behind the ball. The Pro T-1 range will have a smaller audience, as these are a muscle-back style of wedge aimed at low handicap players.’ – bunkered.co.uk

RRP: R3 799.95

M-CRAFT X PUTTERS

What Mizuno says: ‘This putter represents the ultimate fusion of precision engineering and customisable performance. Designed for golfers seeking the perfect balance of feel, forgiveness and adaptability, the M-Craft X puts complete control in your hands, allowing you to tailor your putter to fit your exact stroke.’

Random review: ‘This is one of three models in the range that combine superb aesthetics with a premium feel. The ability to fully customise your putter via purchasing a new back piece or custom weights will appeal to those who like to regularly like to change up their flatstick.’ – golfmonthly.com

Suitable for: Golfers seeking a highly customised putter with extra stability on mis-hits.
