Darren Fichardt played at his first senior Major ‑ the Senior PGA Championship ‑ a fortnight after turning 50, and finished tie-eighth. He was one of five South Africans in the field – others were Retief Goosen (T4th), Keith Horne (T28th), Ernie Els (T35th) and James Kingston (MC).

Lee-Anne Pace made a terrific birdie on the final hole at the Aramco Korea Championship to clinch victory for Team Kouskova with a winning score of 21 under par. The South African was the star of the show in the final round as she carded four birdies in her last six holes, including the winning putt on the difficult par-four 18th.

Central Gauteng earned the treble when they emerged victorious at the 2025 SA Women’s IPT at Ruimsig Country Club after recording five wins and only one loss. Ekurhuleni earned promotion to the A Section after their unbeaten performance at the event.

Casandra Alexander was the third winner of the newly introduced Ladies European Tour Player of the Month, when she was given April’s award for her results in South Africa. She followed February and March recipients Jeeno Thutikul and Mimi Rhodes.

Where Christiaan Bezuidenhout finished at The PGA Championship, the second men’s Major of the year. He was one of two South Africans to make the cut, with Garrick Higgo placing T55th. Thriston Lawrence (+3), Daniel van Tonder (+5), Dean Burmester (+6) and Erik van Rooyen (+7) missed the cut. Scottie Scheffler won his third Major, by five shots.

Lyle Pedro became the third member of the Papwa Sewgolum Class to win a professional title this year after his playoff win at the Betway Big Easy Blue Label Invitational at Ruimsig Country Club. He followed Dylan Naidoo’s win at the South African Open and Slender Sithebe’s Vusi Ngubeni Q-School Tournament victory.

The age of Ulrich van den Berg who won a tournament 10 years after last doing so in 2015. He beat Jaden Dettel in a playoff at the Big Easy Tour event at Dainfern, in a shootout between two Bryanston Golf Club members. Van den Berg’s last win was at the 2015 European Tour Q-School.

Retief Goosen finished second in a playoff to Stewart Cink at the PGA Champions Tour Insperity Invitational after rounds of 68, 67 and 70. It left him in fifth place on the Charles Schwab Cup moneylist with earnings of nearly $600 000. He is a three-time winner on the Tour.
