Attention To

DETAIL

This month we look at the balls and irons Srixon has introduced to the South African market

SRIXON SOFT FEEL

A ball is just a ball, is just a ball, is just a ball, right? Wrong. Not when we’re talking about compression figures, with this Srixon new release listed at 58. This figure means the ball is relatively soft and will deform easily when struck, which is beneficial for slower swing speeds.

Lower compression balls (70 or below) are generally recommended for slower swing speeds (less than 112km/h, but that’s a subject for another day), while moderate swing speeds (70-85mph) may benefit from a slightly higher compression.

Random review: ‘A soft golf ball that has plenty of distance to offer. Priced reasonably, this is a great option for a range of club golfers. It is around the greens where this Srixon golf ball comes up trumps. There is plenty of spin and control on offer from what is an exceptional two-piece constructed golf ball.’ – www.nationalclubgolfer.com

Z-STAR 9 SERIES

What Srixon says: ‘Push your towering drives to the limit and enjoy plenty of greenside control with this ball, our best distance performer in the Tour ball category. If all your birdies begin with a colossal tee shot, this ball is designed specifically for you.’

Random review: ‘The Srixon Z-Star is a premium golf ball that sets itself apart with its super soft feel and ample greenside control. It may not be the longest ball for most players but it’s a solid all-rounder that offers a consistent flight and notable durability.’ – www.golfmonthly.com

ZXi IRONS

Srixon’s newest irons lineup is designed for practically every player type. With three models (ZXi4, ZXi5, ZXi7) and a utility (ZXiU), it’s possible to mix and match irons boasting different materials, face designs and internal constructions.

This is what to expect from them:

ZXi4: A chunkier head design with a thicker sole, offering strong lofts and excellent forgiveness.

Random review: ‘These irons are very forgiving. Immense distance potential thanks to strong lofts, fast ball speed, and low spin. Great look in the bag.’ – www.pluggedingolf.com

ZXi5: A mid-range option that combines features from the ZXi4 and ZXi7, providing a cleaner look.

Random review: The ZXi5 irons deliver exceptional feel, nice levels of forgiveness and impressive distance output – they're a must try for players looking for a new cavity-back iron. – www.golfmonthly.com

ZXi7: A player’s iron with a compact shape and refined design, ideal for more skilled golfers.

Random review: ‘From the easier-to-pair combo sets to the competitive price structure, I’d encourage any golfer who thinks they might be good enough to at least try these irons out. The Srixon ZXi7 irons might just be the last set of irons you ever need to buy.” – www.todays-golfer.com

FINDING THE RIGHT BALL

Slow swing speed (under 120km/h), under 200m with driver: You will be looking for a ball that promotes maximum distance and has the softest feel possible.

Moderate swing speed (under 135km/h), under 235m with driver: You’ll want a ball that offers maximum spin around the greens, the softest feel possible and a ball that will deliver distance.

Fast swing speed (over 135km/h), over 235m with driver: Here you’ll need a ball that offers distance and the ability to hold approaches to the green, as well as maximum spin to control your ball around the greens.
