ERNIE ELS, SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER AND NELLY KORDA NAMED GWAA’S 2024 PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
Ernie Els, Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda, three players who separated themselves from their peers on the course last season, have been voted 2024 Players of the Year in their divisions by the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA). Els, 55, became just the third player to win the GWAA Senior Player of the Year award.
GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND WIN 2025 TEAM CUP
Great Britain & Ireland completed an emphatic victory at the 2025 Team Cup, defeating Continental Europe 17-8 at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort. The GB&I side, led by Justin Rose, held a commanding seven-point lead at the start of play, needing just two points to complete their triumph before Sunday’s singles session. Englishman Laurie Canter earned the first point of the afternoon as he beat the previously undefeated Romain Langasque 5&4, and Tommy Fleetwood claimed the crucial winning point for his side.
SUNSHINE TOUR’S TOP PROS TO BATTLE FOR GLORY AT DNi TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sunshine Tour is headed for one of the most thrilling season conclusions, with the announcement of the new DNi Tour Championship at The Club at Steyn City as the final tournament of the season and the final event on the The Courier Guy Playoffs series. The R3-million DNi Tour Championship will take place from 27-30 March 2025 and will feature the top-50 professionals on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit, delivered by The Courier Guy, competing for overall season honours as well exemptions into the Majors. “DNi is thrilled to be partnering with the Sunshine Tour through the new DNi Tour Championship,” said Dr Ryan Noach, DNi group chief executive officer (above).
SADGA UNVEILS AN EXCITING AND INCLUSIVE 2025 SCHEDULE
The South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA) is excited to announce a jam-packed 2025 schedule, featuring the return of the prestigious South African Disabled Open and new initiatives that reinforce SADGA’s commitment to inclusivity and player development. This year also marks the launch of the groundbreaking Equipment Assistance initiative. The 2025 AAGT features premier events at some of South Africa’s most iconic golf courses, including Royal Johannesburg, Zimbali Country Club and King David Mowbray Golf Club.
REGISTRATIONS OPEN FOR SEASON TWO OF GLOBAL AMATEUR PATHWAY
The registration period for the 2025 edition of the Global Amateur Pathway – powered by the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) – is open, with the aim of helping the best male amateur players to take the next step in their careers. The landmark initiative, launched by the DP World Tour, The R&A and the PGA Tour in 2024, creates a pathway for non-collegiate amateur players on to the DP World Tour and partner Tours around the world. Wenyi Ding (above) topped the rankings after year one, earning a DP World Tour card for the 2025 season.
